However, you can download BBC iPlayer programmes before you go (as long as you have enough space on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. If you try to access the service from outside the UK, you will be politely told you can’t. While watching BBC iPlayer within the UK is pretty easy, the same can’t really be said when you go abroad. You will also have to tick a box to confirm you are 16 or over. This includes BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four. A PIN will need to be set up on all devices that are used for BBC iPlayer. BBC iPlayer is a free streaming service that offers live and catch up TV from all of BBCs channels. However, the process isn’t the same as it watching BBC iPlayer (from outside the UK) is on your laptop, smartphone, iPad or even Fire TV Stick because Apple TV doesn’t support VPNs. That way, only those with knowledge of that PIN will be able to watch any content flagged as needing parental guidance. Watching BBC iPlayer on your Apple TV from outside the UK is possible and really easy. To do this, you need to create a four-digit PIN.
